Congratulations to Mergon “Team 3” who were crowned Westmeath’s Fittest Company on Saturday 24th April.

The Winning Team L-R: Gary Kelly, Kevin Coffey, Rose Grall, Aoife Mc Guinness, Joan Hyland and Colm Dardis

There were some fantastic performances at Westmeath’s Fittest Company competition. The activities and effort at Columb Barracks in Mullingar were the results of 12 weeks training with Maurice Lobby Fitness for the title of Westmeath’s Fittest Company. Overall 120 competitors from 20 different company teams participated.

4 teams from Mergon International took part in the competition in aid of Irish Autism Action. Despite the wind, rain and some controversial judging decisions Mergon “Team 3” were announced as the overall winners. The team finished with 21 points in total, 6 ahead of their nearest rivals. Team members are Joan Hyland, Rose Grall, Aoife Mc Guinness, Kevin Coffey, Gary Kelly and Colm Dardis.

Overall the Mergon teams put in some great performances with 3 of the teams finishing in the top ten and 7 of the events being won by Mergon team members.

More than €11,000 and counting has been raised by the companies involved for Irish Autism Action, with over €2,600 raised by Mergon employees, making this the most successful local fundraiser the charity has had since 2012, according to Kevin Whelan, CEO of Irish Autism Action. Congratulations and well done to all who took part and thanks to everyone for their support and sponsorship. We are looking forward to next year’s event already.
